Skill development around household tasks is a personalised service to meet the needs of the participant and their circumstances. We focus on developing the skills that allow a participant to be as independent as possible, therefore we don't 'do' the task, we assist and teach how. This includes tasks in and around the house.

Learning is about improving knowledge and gaining skills that will help in reaching specific goals. Therefore, the things that you may like to learn are unique to you. You may need assistance with learning how to; manage money, read, use a computer, organise your week, plan for an event, write a resume, use MyGov or NDIS portal, or a specific life skill.

Cooking is taught as a process; from researching recipes, preparing a shopping list, purchasing the items according to your budget to preparing the meal. Hygiene, food safety and dietary requirements will have special focus throughout. Your cooking ability will determine the types of dishes you will learn.

We all know that independence can help increase your self-worth and self-esteem, more so if becoming independent is one of your goals. Achieving independence whether it is financial, social or personal is empowering and gives a sense of control over your own life. We can provide a tailored service to build your independence in the areas you want to work on either in the home or in the community.

Developing a connection with others and the community provide security, support and a sense of purpose. We encourage and assist participants to find and build on friendships that are important to them. This may be done through teaching friendship skills, connecting with groups in the community or through safe use and navigation of social media. We recognise that positive relationships are vital to our mental and emotional wellbeing.

StriveAbility promote independent and safe use of public transport. Our training is based on the participants wants and needs and the barriers they experience to accessing public transport. Our aim is that participants will;
- Build their confidence with using public transport.
- Become familiar with the services and facilities available.
- Learn strategies to use during their trip.
